Spring is here and I’m making good on the promise to not let March slip away without getting out and camping. Especially since the weather this year is warm and there’s been no flooding and not a lot of rain. It’s been so nice that the forestry service opened the gravel roads early this year. This being the case, we headed to a favorite spot that sits right on Indian Creek.
The camp wasn’t crowded and there was plenty of room for the truck and a kitchen setup. After a hearty breakfast, we fished the day away right next to camp in a large pool of clear water between two log jams. We could see dozens of trout and many other species of fish swimming around and had a blast trying to pull them out.
My daughter came close to landing a couple trout but no luck this time. Next time, for sure! I’m coming back down next weekend with a friend from Louisville to walk the creeks and see what we can catch on tenkara. Hopefully this weather holds. I might even bring sunscreen for my poor neck.
